Idea I. Chalkboard Framed Hearts

You will need wooden heart frames, (found at almost any craft store) chalkboard paint, white chalk and sandpaper.

First spray the frames with two coats of chalkboard paint allowing it to dry for 24 hours. If you want to give your frame a rustic look you can sand it heavily with sandpaper. Just be sure to remove all the paint dust with a cloth. Rub white chalk all over the frame and lightly wipe off any extra chalk with a cloth to set the chalkboard. Any finishing touches like scrapbook paper or a picture can be added. Then decorate the frame with chalk!

Idea II. Personalized Love Rocks

Most people have no problem finding rocks around the yard. Why not turn them into something fun?! Wash the rocks and allow them to completely dry. After they are dry, use markers (permanent or washable ones) to draw hearts or your favorite quotes on each. To give a shiny look and seal your design, add a coat of “Modge Podge” or another brand of decoupage coating to each rock. Now they are ready to be handed out as little Valentines!

Idea III. Burlap Gift Bags

How could you go wrong with a sweet little heart bag filled with candy, homemade cookies or even a chocolate dipped marshmallow? Here’s what you need:

Pre-made burlap gift bags
Heart stencil
Paint
Paint brushes

First make a heart shaped stencil and tape it securely to the bag so that it doesn’t move on you.

Then, apply acrylic paint using a foam sponge brush. You might want to place a piece of paper inside the bag to keep the paint from bleeding through. Next, fill these cute little bags with candy or anything else you want.
