Yay! Spring is…uhm…wait, is that snow?

Snow Covered FlowersI guess April showers, kills the May spring flowers with an unexpected return to snow and frost. I know most of the snow is now gone again, but I gotta say, in terms of planning a party, that snow storm this past weekend has gotten me a little spooked. And though the “experts” say that this is “most likely” the “last of the snow this season”, something tells me that I should be prepared for anything when it comes to planning a party, especially if the party is outdoors. But, a sudden snow storm can create a few problems for indoor parties as well.

Avoiding a chaotic first impression

Snow Covered StreetYup, that’s snow out there. On the evening of your party. In the middle of May! It seems impossible, yet there it is, falling delicately from the sky in all its serene white beauty. It’s hard to be mad at snow, but all of a sudden you foresee guests in their high heels, sliding up the stairs to the front door, and by the time all your guest have arrived, despite a few quick wipes on the doormat, your floor is quickly covered with slushy, dirty, snow water that has been dragged in from the outside. Not exactly what you had hoped for, because now your beautifully planned set up is overshadowed by the trail of mismatched towels from the entryway to the main party room. Or your guest thought ahead, and you have an entryway filled with snow boots and umbrellas and your guests are tripping over themselves to get through the door. Either way, your party guests are greeted by chaos and clutter from the minute they arrive. Not cool. And, not the right way to start off a party. If you planned to have your party outside? Well, you can only imagine what a surprise snowstorm could do to ruin your set up. However meticulously you planned it with your event planners.

That’s it, party is OFF!!
