Flatware should match your overall party style, particularly with the table setting. Here are several factors when choosing your flatware and what to pay attention to.
Shine level
The intensity of shine is dependent on two things. If you are looking into stainless steel flatware, you may notice some numbers in the specification, like 18/10; 18/0; 13:0; etc. These numbers refer to the percentage of Chromium and Nickel in the steel alloy, respectively. Chromium is what gives the stainless steel that very ”stainless” or rust-free property. Nickel, on the other hand, is the shine factor in the alloy. It also contributes to the price of the flatware, since it is pretty expensive. Therefore, an 18/10 label on the stainless steel set indicates 18% Chromium and 10% Nickel. 18/0 means there’s no Nickel in it, just the Chromium of 18%.
The more nickel it contains, the shinier (and pricier) the flatware is. In that case, go for 18/10 or 18/8 ratio. If you wish for a more matte finish, go for an 18/0 ratio.
