5 Tips for Getting Wedding Quotes

It is easy to make the best decision for event vendors when we receive quotes that go hand-in-hand with what you seek. 

Getting quotes from companies can be a daunting task, and making calls and sending out emails can be difficult since the number of prices and options can cloud our minds and confuse us. It is crucial to first define your budget and then ask your potential suppliers for information with enough time to make adequate decisions for your event. Remember that searching for the right provider for your event will require patience. Here we give you five tips to apply when getting quotes (after your budget has been defined).

1. Set priorities: Providers who receive an email from you do not know your budget, preferences, and needs. Let them know what’s most important to you and why it is important – for example, “I want everyone to dance at my wedding” – and be honest about your budget. Otherwise, it’s time and information lost.

2. Give details about the date, location, and the number of guests: Avoid too many incoming and outgoing emails and calls. Instead, it is best to provide precise information to the company, for example:

“Hello (Provider),

My name is (name). I will be married on September 10th, 2018, in Colorado. My ceremony will be at the church at 4 PM, and then we will have a five-hour reception at the Dream Hotel. I’m expecting 100 guests. There will not be any children, but our guests are young people between the ages of 25-30 years. I want a quote for your services for ____________ .”

3. Show References: If you have an idea in mind, don’t be shy about showing pictures and video. Look at images on Pinterest, save those photographs, cut out pictures from magazines, etc. Show your supplier your ideas (cake, decorations, tables) so they can better understand your idea and meet your needs.

4. Be realistic: This recommendation is the most complicated. Many couples say “we want a simple outdoor wedding” and do not realize it may have the same cost as a hotel event. Let’s face it, if your budget is limited, having a live band playing is probably not going to happen. Again, define priorities and be realistic about what you want and what you can have.

5. Be open to the options: Most of the people who work planning out weddings are most likely willing to accommodate and adjust to your needs. It is important that you communicate and explain your needs and ideas. They can surprise you with creativity that can solve your problems.
