Shaving Dollars Off of Your Wedding Budget
When you dream about the perfect wedding, you don’t do a lot of fantasizing about the budget, because dreams don’t have a price tag, right? However, then you get engaged, and reality slowly starts to sink in. We’ve got a few tips for you to still plan your dream wedding, but make smart choices to save money your wedding budget.
How to reduce your wedding budget
There are many details that go into planning a wedding. Having a wedding planner can be incredibly helpful, but be mindful that a wedding planner will cost money, and the more you rely on them to find vendors to cover every aspect of your wedding, the more expensive they will be. There are ways that you can reduce the budget a little.
Hair and make-up
We know you’re stressed on the day of your wedding, and it would be nice if the stylist would come to you, but that’s going to cost extra. Find a stylist that is close to the venue – one that has a great reputation – and plan time to go to the salon on the day of the wedding.
You don’t have to compromise on the stylist, but you can compromise on the price of transportation, and it is going to be cheaper if you go to them, rather than having them come to you.
Design and print your own invitations
A wedding requires a lot of paper products, from invitations to the RSVP card to place cards to table numbers, etc. You’d be amazed at how many paper products you’ll need. Depending on how big and how many speeches and activities you have prepared, you may even want to have a program printed out. Regardless, if you don’t, then someone you know has a printer, and with technology, even the least nerdy bride or groom can design and print their own wedding invitations and everything that goes with them.
Even if you have a wedding planner, the more things you can do yourself, the more money you’ll save. The wedding planner is going to charge for the time she spends on your invitations, and she may even work in a commission for herself while she’s at it, so if you can take the time to buy stationery and paper and get creative yourself, then you’ll save a bit on your budget.
Cut back on vendors
We’re sure your wedding planner has a vendor that they love and recommend for every single thing you need for your wedding. The more vendors that you use, the more money you’ll have to spend. Many vendors, especially those that cater to the wedding industry, will have packages that will take care of multiple items on your wedding planning to-do list. Find a catering company that will take care of the appetizers, entrees, and the wedding cake, and find a party rental company that can provide everything you need to make your day absolutely perfect.
