Amp The Cause Holiday for the Kids

As a company we get numerous opportunities to attend networking events, company outings, or fundraising galas. That we often forget the importance of volunteering and the important lessons it teaches. As we enter into the season of giving, we reflect on the past year and how grateful we are for all of our clients, partners, and employees. At Colorado Pary Rentals we embrace a culture of giving back. This year we partnered with Amp the Cause for their Holiday for The Kids event.   

What is Amp the Cause Holiday for the Kids 

This event provides “a once-in-a-lifetime holiday experience for local children, complete with arts and crafts, face painters, a visit from Santa, lunch, and a backpack full of books and toys for each child.” 

This event serves 6 different elementary schools and impacts 569 children. (CMS Community School, Eagleton Elementary, Math & Science Leadership Acadamy, and Schmitt Elementary in Denver. Fulton Elementary, Sixth Avenue Elementary, Tollgate Elementary, and Virginia Elementary in Aurora). 

Colorado is the third-highest state in the nation for homeless families with children, and 80% of the children who participate in this event also receive free or reduced lunches at their school. This means that their families might not have the funds to be able to provide holiday gifts and experiences for their kids. This event helps bring the magic of the holidays to kids who don’t get to experience it. 

Our Experience 

As volunteers we helped wrap gifts for all the kids. Though this may seem like such a small way to give back, it has such a huge impact on all of the kids. Think back to when you were young and how exciting and memorable it was waking up Christmas morning and excitement of tearing the wrapping of your presents.

What We Learned

Tegan: It was a wonderful break from the busy day to day. And a fantastic reminder that just a couple of hours from your day can impact children in need. Wrapping presents for AMP the cause was a wonderful experience and I would do it every year! 

Kayli: The holidays are supposed to be the happiest time of year, so it means a lot that we get the chance to be able to provide that for children who might not otherwise experience it. My sister works in Aurora Public School District, so I hear first-hand how much programs like these mean to the kids. It was also great to hear about the other events that AMP has coming up where we can join them again in giving back!

Ways for you to Volunteer 

Amp the Cause’s goal is to improve the lives of families thought entertainment, annual, events and community service projects. You can help by volunteering’s at another one of their events. Their next event is Amp the Cause Denver Community Day, where over 800 volunteers’ partner with local nonprofits to help work on community projects, from repainting buildings to helping clean up parks.  

Another event Amp the Cause organizes is the Denver Day of Rock. This is free a one-day music festival that “unites the community through music and family friendly entertainment while also raising funds to help Amp the Cause continue to support non-profits in our community.” You can help by sponsoring this event or donating funds.
